  5. Tool Inventory allows the manufacturer to reduce excess tool inventory, reduce
  6. the number of different tools required to make parts, provide the right tools
  7. on time for the most critical manufacturing jobs, avoid late product shipments
  8. and idle machines, provide a maintenance and calibration schedule, and locate
  9. tooling on the manufacturing floor. The system handles the maintaining,
  10. reserving, requisitioning, receiving, transferring, adjusting, issuing,
  11. returning, repairing, reworking, and disposition of tools, gages and fixtures
  12. in multiple tool cribs. The system also reports the supply, usage, activity,
  13. condition, and location of tools used in the manufacturing process. Tools and
  14. their costs may be tracked and charged to the crib, work center, and employee.
  15. Tools may be put into kits where they are maintained, reserved, issued and
  16. returned. Tool Kit Lists, Tools Inventory, Tool Status and Where Used reports
  17. are available. The system optionally provides four levels of access for the
  18. supervisor, manufacturing engineer, purchases, and crib attendant. Tool
  19. Activity transactions can be purged off the system by cut-off date and stored
  20. offline for analysis.
